"Between Heartbeats" is the thirteenth episode in the first season of the Canadian police drama television series Flashpoint. The episode first aired on February 13, 2009. In international markets, this episode is billed as episode 13 of season 1, while in North America, the episode aired as the fourth episode of season 2.
The son of a man Ed killed on a previous mission takes over City Hall, sniping several officers, and it becomes apparent that Ed is his target. Sam and Jules approach the position of the sniper, but it's a trap. Jules is hit by the sniper, and a hail of bullets rain on Sam until other team members come to help him move Jules. The constant shots allow the team to locate the sniper. When Ed tries to find the sniper, the young man threatens to shoot him as revenge for his father's death at Ed's hands. Before he can, Sam shoots him from an adjacent roof. The episode ends with the team waiting around Jules' hospital room. Sam talks to her, and cries holding her hand saying he should've protected her.
